What is a Notarization?
If you need to have a document legally recognized or validated, you must have it notarized by a certified notary public.
A regular notarization involves the act of verifying the identity of the person signing a document and ensuring that they are doing so willingly and without any form of coercion. The notary public does not verify the content of the document, but instead confirms that the signer's identity and signature are legitimate.
In the notarization process, the individual signing the document must appear before the notary and provide valid identification. The notary will then witness the signature and apply their official seal, which makes the document legally binding.
Notarization serves as a fraud-prevention measure, assuring that the document is genuine and that all signatures are made voluntarily. It provides added assurance to parties involved in transactions that the document is authentic and the signer intended to be legally bound by its terms.
